Victor Ben Bresko

U.S. VeteranFormer Estacada resident Coquille and current Scotts Mills resident, Victor Bresko, died at a Portland hospital on Tuesday, May 8, 2012. He was 66.
A graveside service with military honors will be held 2pm, Thursday, May 17, 2012 at Willamette National Cemetery.
Victor Benjamin Bresko, Jr. was born October 27, 1945 in Silverton, Oregon to Victor Bresko, Sr. and Avo (Bermingham) Bresko. He was raised in Estacada where he graduated from high school. Vic received his MA from Western University and began his teaching career in Coquille, Oregon. He married Lorel Thomsen in June, 1969 in Coquille. They had four children and later were divorced. He was drafted into the US Army in July, 1969 and was honorably discharged in July, 1971. Vic was also in the Army Reserves until 1975. When he returned, he continued teaching in Coquille. Because of his love of cooking, he received a culinary degree in Portland while living in Estacada in 1991. He was a chef at The Black Butte Resort as well as several other places. When the Oregon Gardens opened, he found his passion in gardening and worked there for over 10 years and retired due to illness.
Vic enjoyed teaching, raising chickens, going on vacation with his children where they went on long road trips and sang songs, laughed and had fun. He was an actor, dancer, and singer for the Sawdust Theater in Coquille for over 15 years. His passion in life was cooking, teaching and being taught. He was working on his ESL degree until his illness.
Survivors include his companion Alan Rhoads of Scotts Mills, Oregon; son, Marcus Bresko of Camano Island, Washington; daughters, Anna Bonte of Portland, Emily Schueger of Astoria, Oregon, Morgan Bresko of Portland; brother, John Bresko of Estacada, sister, Donna Steputis of Tigard; six grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
