David A. Stockner

Dave went home to our Lord Jesus Christ quietly at his home in Eagle Creek, OR
on December 7, 2023. He was born on June 12, 1934, in Libby, MT to Cecil & Agnes Stockner. He later moved to Oakridge, OR where he graduated from high
school in 1952. After graduation, he worked as a Lookout Fire Watcher for the
Forest Service for the summer.


Dave enlisted with the United States Army after high school and served with the
11 th Airborne Division during the Korean Conflict. After his service, he attended
Portland State University receiving a Bachelor’s of Science degree in education.
He went on to further his education and received his Masters, as well as his
Doctorate. While attending PSU, he met his wife Janet Johnson, who was
attending a business college in Portland. They were married on August 30, 1957.
Dave taught in Valsetz and Myrtle Creek before settling in Estacada. He was the
Junior High School Principal in Estacada for 25 years, retiring in 1989.


As a young 14 year old, Dave became an Eagle Scout. At the time when earning
this achievement, he became one of the youngest to have achieved this goal in
the state of Oregon. He started two Boy Scout Troops in his career with the Boy
Scouts. The first, on base in Germany while he was serving in the military. And
the second, in Eagle Creek in 1972.


Dave was active in the Lion’s Club for over 40 years and was an active member up
to his death. He was blessed to have participated in several trips to Mexico with
the Lion’s Club International.


Dave is survived by his 5 sons, Rick (Linda) Murphy, Brian (Jana) Stockner, Kevin
(Stephanie) Stockner, Craig (Brenda) Stockner, Kerry Stockner; 9 Grandchildren;
11 Great-Grandchildren; Sisters, Kay Hiron and Kim (Stockner) Wright; nieces and
nephews.


He was preceded in death by his wife, Janet; Brother, Rick Sanders; Sisters, Pat
(Sanders) Rodgers, Terry Stockner and Donna Stockner.
