Glenna Marie Weixel

December 1, 1952 — November 22, 2019

Glenna Marie Weixel was born December 1, 1952 in Ogden, Utah. She died November 22, 2019. She was sixty-six years young. Her death occurred peacefully in her home and ended her years of fighting against the advances of cancer in her body. Yet cancer was not able to conquer her spirit, nor could it overthrow her faith in Jesus Christ her Savior. Glenna grew up in Ogden, Utah where she lived until she was sixteen. She attended a Baptist Church with her parents. At a young age she made a commitment to trust Jesus Christ as her Savior. At age sixteen her parents Glenn and Ruby Jensen divorced. Afterwards she lived in Kamloops, BC, Denver, CO, and Langley BC. And her mother Ruby married a Canadian Alf Barnett. Glenna attended elementary, middle, and high schools in Ogden, UT. She completed her High School education in Langley, BC. After High School she attended Briercrest Bible Institute, Caronport, Sk. and earned a two year diploma. She then finished one year of nurse’s training in Vancouver General Hospital’s registered nurse’s program. She married her husband Richard Weixel on August 21, 1976 whom she met at Briercrest. She discontinued her nursing training to join him in pastoral ministry at Memorial Gospel Tabernacle, Maryfield, SK. They served together from November of 1976 thru March 1980. In 1981 Glenna moved with her husband and son to Portland, OR where Richard planned to attend Seminary, a plan that wasn’t completed. Glenna worked in a variety of positons mostly as a caregiver. That included doing child care in her home, being an activities coordinator at retirement centers (Rose Schnitzer Manor and Parkview Christian Retirement Community), and providing independent in- home care for people with Alzheimer’s. For three years she served with Richard as a Chaplain with Nursing Home Ministries as they provided a weekly service at Pacific Gardens, a memory care facility. Her caring heart extended to providing dog care in her home as a business. Glenna was also a gifted speaker, teacher and writer. She taught four year olds at a Day Care Center, taught adults through a community college adult education program, spoke at a women’s retreat, and taught material to adults that she developed as a writer. Glenna was preceded in death by all her grandparents as well has her parents Glenn and Ruby Jensen, her step mother Betty Jensen (Barnes) and her step father Alf

Barnett, her only sibling Danny Jensen. She is survived by her husband Richard Weixel; her son Ryan Weixel, his wife Krystle and their children Tyler, Clark and Brooklynn; a daughter Serena Sanchez, her husband Matt and their children Tabor and Ziva; and a son Jason Weixel. Glenna was given a green burial under the shade of evergreen trees November 28, 2019 during a private family gathering at George Pioneer Cemetery.
