Joan Bryan, a beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend, passed away
peacefully at her home on October 1, 2025, at the age of 90, with her family at her side.
Born on April 6, 1935, in Estacada, Oregon, to Loren and Avis Cyrus. Joan grew up in Estacada
and graduated as class valedictorian from Estacada High School in 1953. Shortly after
graduating, Joan married the love of her life, Ronald Bryan. Their journey together began at Fort
Lewis while Ron served in the Army, and upon returning to Estacada, they settled on a farm on
Hillockburn Road.
Joan was known for her piano playing and involvement with the Dodge Community Church. She
enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grand and great-grandchildren. She also
spent many hours working on her property and caring for her livestock.
She leaves behind a loving family, including her brother Larry (Linda) Cyrus, her children,
Deborah Shepard, Ray Bryan (Perry Chambers), and Thomas Bryan, along with eight
grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Joan was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald Bryan, parents Loren & Avis Cyrus and
her brother, Loren Duane Cyrus
Joan Bryan’s life was a testament to love, dedication, and determination. Her legacy will
continue to inspire all those who knew her.
A service to celebrate her amazing life will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, October 18th at the
Dodge Community Church. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that a donation be made to the
Dodge Community Church building fund or the Oregon Food Bank.
