Karen Ann Rice, a longtime resident of Gresham, Oregon, peacefully entered
the presence of her Savior in heaven on Saturday, August 30, 2025, at the
same Portland hospital in which she was born She was 68 years old. A
celebration of Karen’s life will be held at a later date.
Karen was born on June 13, 1957, in Portland, to George and Alice (Brinks)
Georgioff. She grew up in Portland and graduated from Grant High School
before continuing her education at Multnomah School of the Bible, where she
earned her bachelor’s degree.
While attending Central Bible Church, Karen met Charlie Rice. Their shared
faith and love for ministry brought them together as they served at Trout
Creek Bible Camp. They were married on September 19, 1980, in Portland.
Their life journey took them to Placerville, California, where Charlie served
as a youth pastor and they began their family. After 4 years in Placerville,
they moved to Gresham, where Charlie served as an associate pastor. In 1999,
they moved to Torrance, California, where Karen worked as a dedicated
paraeducator for more than 15 years. In 2018, they returned to Gresham, the
place they called home.
Karen had a gentle spirit and found joy in life’s simple pleasures—reading a
good book, soaking up the sunshine, and taking long, peaceful drives. She
was a faithful member of Gresham First Baptist Church, where Charlie
continues to serve as pastor.
Karen is lovingly remembered by her husband, Charlie Rice; their children,
Tana Rice, Crystal Rice, Micah Rice, his wife, Clara, and her grandchildren,
Alice Everly and Conrad. Also, her brothers, Jim Georgioff (Liz), Paul
Georgioff, and Mark Georgioff (Robin); her sister, Diane Trotter (Mark); and
many loving nieces and nephews.
Karen is reunited in heaven with her parents; her sister, Denise Georgioff; her
sister-in-law, Kathie Georgioff; and nephews, Ryan Georgioff and Timmy
Rice.
Her life was marked by quiet strength, deep faith, and unwavering love for
her family. She will be dearly missed.
