Marilyn Joyce Reynolds (née Larson), aged 81, passed away peacefully at her home in Estacada, Oregon on June 27, 2026. Born on July 6, 1944, in Great Falls, MT she was preceded in death by her father and mother, Reverend Sydney and Grace Larson. She is survived by her husband, Michael Reynolds, two children, Sarah Brewer and Timothy Reynolds, five grandchildren, and her siblings, Eldon, Jerry, Connie, and Betty.
As the eldest daughter of a church-planting minister, Marilyn lived in many places. Great Falls, Montana, Fort Francis, Ontario, Phillips, Wisconsin, St. Paul, Minnesota, Seattle, Washington, and Portland, Oregon were some of the places she called home. After completing high school in Philips, Wisconsin in 1962, she pursued her passion for caring for others by becoming a nurse. She graduated from Mounds-Midway School of Nursing in St. Paul, Minnesota in 1965. Her journey brought her to the Pacific Northwest where she spent time in Seattle, Washington where she first met her future husband, Michael. In 1974, Marilyn spent time in the mission field in Ethiopia, where she forged lifelong friendships. In 1975, she completed a graduate program at Multnomah School of the Bible in Portland, Oregon. Marilyn worked at her father’s Pastorate in Fort Frances, Ontario before returning to the west coast, where she reconnected with Michael. The two were wed in June of 1977.
Marilyn's life was defined by her devotion to faith and family and her defiant joy. She enriched others' lives through her many roles as a wife, mother, sister, friend, missionary, and nurse. Her hobbies included exploring creation through camping and hiking in her younger years and she found joy in her later years studying her Swedish heritage and family history, cooking, and gardening, and watching the bustling life on the small farm where she spent her last years.
She will be lovingly remembered by the many people that she loved and cared for during her time on this Earth.
A celebration of her life will take place at 1:00 PM on Saturday, August 8, 2026, at Grace Crossing Bible Church in Estacada Oregon.
