Vancouver resident, Relda Upshaw, died at her home with her family by her side on Saturday, May 31, 2025. She was 82.
A funeral service will be held 10:00 AM, Saturday, June 14, 2025 at Estacada Funeral Chapel followed by a committal service at Redland Pioneer Cemetery.
Relda Geneva Bonner was born August 9, 1942 in Bastrop, Louisiana to Josph and Bertie (Hemphill) Bonner. Where she was raised. On February 18, 1961 she married James Upshaw, whom she had loved since high school. They made their home in Portland, until moving Damascus, Oregon, where they raised 6 children. After raising their children, they moved to Orchards, Washington in 1984. For most of her working career she worked for Paul Brothers Landscaping and retired in 1986 due to an injury received in an automobile accident. After her husband’s retirement, James and Relda became full time RV’ers They then settled in Buckeye Arizona. After James’ death in 2011, Relda moved back to Vancouver to be close to family.
Relda enjoyed singing, going to church and riding on the back of James’ motorcycle.
Survivors include her sons James (Karen) Upshaw, Michael Upshaw; daughters, Patty Polushkin, Kathleen Schwarzkopf; sister, Brenda (Bill) Grisso; brother, Waymon (Kim) Bonner; 11 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren.
