Longtime Portland resident, Kerry Stickler died suddenly at a Portland area hospital on Saturday, October 28, 2023. He was 65.
A memorial service will be held 11:00 AM, Thursday, November 2, 2023 at Estacada Funeral Chapel. A celebration of his life will be held 6:00 PM, Thursday, November 2, 2023 at Parkrose Ballroom.
Kerry Dean Stickler was born March 1, 1958 in Albany, Oregon to William and Beulah (Hammond) Stickler. They moved to Lewiston, Idaho where he attended high school. He entered into the US Army August 25, 1975 and was honorably discharged on August 20, 1976. Kerry went back to Lewiston where he started his family then spent time in Spokane before moving back to Lewiston. In 1996 he moved to Portland where he worked as a heavy equipment operator in the asphalt industry and retired 2 years ago. On August 21, 2021 Kerry married the love of his life Mary Sue Shuler at their home in Portland.
His greatest joy was playing his guitar and singing. He was in several bands including, Marquee, Roadkill, Black Sheep and most recently the Kerry Dean Stickler Band playing all over the northwest including the M&M, Pink Feather and Celebrities. Other notable performances; he opened for Rick Derringer, B.J. Thomas, George Thoughgood and Buddy Guy.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Sue; sons, Lucas (Tawnya) Stickler, Bill (Elizabeth Scharmann) Stickler; daughters, Annie Stickler, Stephanie (Shawna) Morse; grandchildren, Riley, Olive, Mason, and Pheonix Stickler, Logan and Rebecca Jacobs and Jeremyah Fite
