Obituary

Truly a life to celebrate, beloved lifelong Estacada and Gresham resident, Letamae Conrey passed away peacefully on August 30, 2024 after 97 fabulous years. Letamae had a full, wonderful life that included a loving family, decades of travel, cruises, and camping trips.

Letamae was an inspiration to her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She passed along three key lessons to all of them: the value and importance of family, the value and importance of compassion and the value and importance of forgiveness.

Letamae was born in Stayton, OR on March 13, 1927. Her family moved to Estacada, OR where she attended Estacada Grade School and graduated from Estacada High School in 1945. She married William H. Conrey on August 20, 1945. While raising 4 children, Letamae also worked part time at Estacada Telephone and Telegraph Co. and assisted with the berry harvest at Judd Farms. Letamae and Bill taught dance classes in Estacada, Sandy and were Cruise Director’s for Matson Lines, teaching dance and doing performances on board a six weeklong cruise on the Pacific Ocean. Letamae always supported her children at their events. She attended every game, wrestling match, concert, and recital. She was also an active leader in Cub Scouts and Girl Scouts. After Letamae moved to Gresham from Estacada, she worked at a local music store assisting youngsters with music rentals, lessons and getting ready for those all-important recitals.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Floyd & Neva Day, brother Duane Day, daughter Marsha L. Conrey, son Michael D. Conrey, nephew Brad Day and niece Brenda Day - Collins. Letamae is survived by her son Robert and his wife Dee Conrey, daughter Michelle and her husband Jack Perry, Daughter-In-Law Robin Conrey, grandchildren, Lori & Troy Keeth, Toni Rickman, Michael & Jaque Conrey, Kelly Smith, Sean Conrey, Shawn Brewster and Heather Klawitter Shearer. Great grand children Jacob & Spencer Keeth, Makayla & Alex Olson, Caden Rickman, Isabella Rickman, Cole Rickman, Max Smith, Emmie Smith, Meadow Conrey, Holt Conrey and Cannon Sheerer. Great-great granddaughter Lucy Olson.

Letamae had close life-long friends who shared vacations, travel, dancing, and many other activities together. She will be remembered for her beautiful smile, laughter, compassion, and love.

What a sweet lady! I am sorry for your loss, I am sure she will be missed by family and friends. I feel honored to have been able to know her just a little when we were young. For a kid who was not allowed to dance I was in awe of her graceful moves around her house! Ruth A Galyen
