In Loving Memory Of

Lori Bufton

January 22nd, 1941 - July 26th, 2023

Obituary

Longtime Estacada resident, Lori Bufton, died Wednesday, July 26, 2023 in a Portland area hospital.  She was 82.

A celebration of her life will be held 11:00 AM, Saturday, August 5, 2023 at Estacada Funeral Chapel.  Private inurnment will be at Willamette National Cemetery.

Lorraine Holloway was born January 22, 1941 in Piti, Guam to Francis and Joaquina (Okazaki) Holloway.  In 1946 at the age of five, our mother left her war-torn country of Guam for the land of freedom. Once they arrived the family was placed in an internment camp in California. In fear of retaliation, they had to erase their culture from their memories.

Finally settling in Connecticut, where she attended Saint Bernard High School. In 1961 she met her Husband Harold in Stevenson Washington. After only 3 months of courtship, they married on June 10, 1961.

After Harold retired from the Navy in 1978, they settled in Estacada, Oregon. Although she was not raised in Estacada, she was the epitome of an Estacadian. There she operated Sunshine Day Care for 25 years. Touching hundreds of our children’s lives.

Perseverance, integrity, and compassion describes this “GOAT” greatest of all time wife, mother, teacher, and friend to many. Never one to complain, “well except for a bad call during her beloved Trailblazers.

She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and being with the children at the daycare.  Lori was an enthusiastic fan of the Portland Trailblazers.

Survivors include her husband of 62 years, Harold, sons, Alan Dean (Kimberly) Bufton, John (Colleen) Bufton, Darren (Denise) Bufton; 10 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren.

Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society in lieu of flowers.

Condolences on the passing off my first cousin Lorraine that left our Island of Guam before I was born. Manuel Okazaki Duenas
Lori was more than just our daycare provider when I was young. She became my "grandma" when I lost mine. She always encouraged me to try new things, and to be kind. She was such a special person and instrumental in who I became as an adult. She has and will always hold a special place in my heart. RIP Lori. Ross Seely
