Former Estacada resident, Matthew Lawson, died suddenly on Sunday, July 9, 2023 in San Antonio, Texas. He was 43.
A celebration of his life will be held 11:00 AM, Saturday, August 19, 2023 at Estacada Funeral Chapel.
He was born January 31, 1980 in Bremerton, Washington to Brian and Tamara (Walden) Lawson. He was raised all over the northwest and attended North Kitsap High School in Poulsbo, Washington. Matt also lived in WA, Enumclaw & Port Townsend; AL; TX, San Antonio. Matt was a member of the Cherokee Nation Tribe.
He took pride in his working career as a roofer, carpenter, and a cement truck driver. He always lived his best life, facing his fears and following his dreams. Matt had a great love of the outdoors. On his off time, he played his drums and was an avid woodworker. He enjoyed riding his Harley. Matt was passionate about music, reading, gardening, art, skiing, and nature.
Matt is survived by his son Wyatt Ezra Lawson; mother Tamara Nielson and step-father Barry Nielson; Father Brian Lawson and step-mother Jackie Lawson; sisters, Sianna Lawson, Michelle Lawson, and Melissa Bronoske; brother, Steven Nielson; Grandparents, Wayne Lawson (Renuka Lawson), Sandra Walden, and Lloyd Nielson. Many Uncles, Aunts, Cousins, Nieces, Nephews, and friends that love and miss him dearly.
