In Loving Memory Of

Mike Perry

June 27th, 1942 - September 30th, 2023

Obituary

Longtime Estacada resident, Mike Perry died in Gresham on Saturday, September 30, 2023.  He was 81 years old.

A celebration of his life will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, October 27, 2023, at Grace Crossing Bible Church 29101 SE Eagle Creek Road, Estacada, Oregon.

Michael Dean Perry was born June 27, 1942, in Bremerton, Washington to Donald and Virginia (Stevens) Perry.  They moved to the Estacada area shortly after he was born where he was raised and lived the rest of his life.  For most of his working career, Mike worked in the woods in the logging industry and later worked for Estacada Rock, retiring in 1997. In his younger years, he met his soul mate, Gerry Richards and they were together for over half their lives until his death.

Mike enjoyed being there for anyone who needed help, visiting friends and local businesses around town, fishing and crabbing on the Oregon Coast, camping in his motor home, and being outdoors.  He had a great love of tinkering on projects, enjoying special occasions with friends and family, giving advice, and sharing the knowledge he had gained throughout his life.

Survivors include his life partner, Gerry Richards; twin brother, Patrick Perry; daughters, Brenda, Shannon, Missy, and Mandy; granddaughter, Desiree Sonday whom he and Gerry raised; and many additional grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Mike was deeply loved and will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and community members.

When working for Reed Logging, Mike was our hook tender, we had a farm patch sale in Gayles Creek Oregon. Mike knew someone in that area that made Rhubarb wine. One Friday on the way home from logging Mike decided to stop in and got a jug of the wine. The jug was wrapped in an old burlap bag. It git passed around in the crummy. Definitely going to miss him. He was a legend to me in the logging world and here in Estacada. He was very well loked and respected. Wes Lazott

Michele and I have only known Mike and Gerry for a short 6 months. In that time Mike has helped us on so many projects around our home. Move our shed, mow our ditch, build a chicken coop and run, "fall a large fir tree", secure our fruit trees, loan me tools and equipment, bought me a pitchfork and a pair of leather gloves. Mike was a very giving and kind person. One of the days while helping me he said " I prayed for you last night".
Our thoughts and prayers are with Gerry and her family.
I look forward to seeing Mike again in Heaven.

There was never nor ever will be a friend so loved for his kindness, helpfulness, loving nature...as Mike Perry. We went to grade school, High School and were friends and neighbors all of our lives.
