Virginia (Ginny) Snodgrass

May 2, 1935 — October 22, 2022

Virginia (Ginny) Mallett Snodgrass, beloved wife of G. William Snodgrass, and adored mother of Daniel, David, and Julia, went home to be with her Savior on October 22, 2022 at the age of 87 years. Born in Ontario, Oregon, Ginny joined the saints in heaven as a loving servant of God after a long and productive life. Along with her three children, Ginny will be greatly missed by her grandchildren, Mark, Charlie, Grant, Claire, Lauren, Sarah, and Steffan, as well as her great-grandchildren Micah and Madelyn, daughters and son in law, extended family, and many friends.

Ginny spent her growing-up years on her parents’ ranch in eastern Oregon, then later attended Whitworth College, in Spokane, where she met her husband, Bill. The couple eventually settled in Portland in 1965 where they raised their family. Ginny completed a post-graduate degree in counseling from Portland State University in 1977, which allowed her to teach at Warner Pacific College and work with Multnomah County's teen parents program in the years after her husband Bill died, in 1978. In her retirement years, Ginny volunteered to help the needy and actively supported service organizations such as Rockside Ranch, Northwest Medical Teams, and Birch Community Services.

In the summer of 2018, Ginny decided to spend her sunset years near her sons who live in the suburbs of north Atlanta. A true joy of those remaining years was to be able to have an impact as a great grandmother to Micah and Madelyn. Ginny was a strong Christian influence on not just those children but to her family and her friends. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her and were served by her generosity.

A memorial service will be held on January 21, 2023, 1pm at Mosaic Church, in Portland, OR. All who knew her are invited.

Memorial gifts can be made to the ministry of Rockside Ranch in Ginny's name. Rockside Ranch is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization dedicated to rebuilding the troubled lives of young men and women. See details.
